It’s November, so it must be National Jewish Book Month. And if it’s Thursday, I must be in Buffalo [NY]. After spending a week in the SF Bay Area at the end of October, I’m now in the middle of the east coast portion of my travels. I just finished 4-days in Detroit at the Women’s League [of Conservative Judaism] national convention, where I had two different speaking gigs and met some really amazing women.
One of them, Vanessa Ochs, was their scholar-in-residence, and we had some fascinating conversations [mostly in the hotel gym, on adjoining exercycles] about women and Jewish rituals, both new and medieval. I also made contacts that I hope will lead to invitations to speak in parts of the country, like Florida, where I’ve never done programs before.
I’ll be speaking in the MD/DC area next week, so if you live there or know folks who do, check out my recently updated schedule and maybe you can come hear me. Last, but not least, I sent the manuscript of 'Book III – RACHEL' to Plume, and I’m now awaiting my editor’s comments and request for changes. So far we're still on schedule for a late Summer 2009 release.
